Fort Ebey, Whidbey Island

My family and I were able to go to Fort Ebey this last Saturday. We traveled there on the always-exciting ferry. Then took a long nice ride through Whidbey Island, watching a movie, reading, and enjoying the view. The weather was cloudy/sunny, really quite nice. When we arrived we were all excited, including the dog Sasha. We got out by the ocean and saw a group of para sailors, the view was wonderful. Throughout the day we found 5 geocaches (it was five for five). It was a wonderful evening, as we enjoyed our family outing, and the beauties of Whidbey Island. In Fort Ebey we were able to see an old firing station that was built into a hill. Also we went to this really cool look out spot that has a great view of the ocean and the surrounding island (which included Vancouver, Canada). The look out spot hangs over a cliff with an approximate 100 foot drop off (I have a picture of it above-although the picture just doesn't do it any justice-with me sitting with Sasha). Another fun thing we found was a kettle lake. Apparently it was formed during the ice age when a rather big chunk of a glacier broke off.
On the way home we enjoyed perfect timing in weather and transportation, and were surprised by lots of snow once we reached Everett. The snow covered the highway, and we ended up pulling over and getting dinner at Wendy's.
The day turned out to be lots of fun!
